Galit McCord, Director

Galit McCordMy film career began in 1999 on Sony's production of "The Body," starring Antonio Banderas.  Although hired as an assistant to the director, I soon found myself directing a "making of" documentary under the tutelage of the film's Director of Photography, Vilmos Zsigmond.  Following post-production of the film in the summer of 2000, I entered into a partnership with Rainer Shaper, the former art director of "Name of The Rose," and the acting C.E.O. of Babelsberg Studios in Germany; to develop, produce, and direct films under the auspices of the €300 million Vivendi Deuchland film fund.

When Rainer Shaper's untimely death in 2002, following production of his Academy Award-winning film, "The Pianist;" ended Babelsberg Studios, I entered into another partnership with Stephan Jonas, the founder of Das Werks - the world's largest post-production facility.  Together, with other partners, we formed SRO Entertainment, which was instrumental in raising over €800 million for film productions.

During my time as a founding partner of SRO, we developed and produced "The Company" with Robert Altman; "Havoc", directed by Barbara Kopel; and "Eulogy," starring Debra Winger and Ray Romano.

My most recent production experience was as co-producer along with Tom Cruise, on Robert Towne's "Ask The Dust", starring Colin Farrell and Selma Hayek; from a 30-year old script that we revitalized, by creatively rethinking the 1930 Los Angeles epic for production in South Africa.

Since the theatrical release of "Ask The Dust," I have been honing my skills as a professional photographer (galitmccordphotography.com). My 10-year apprenticeship under such award-winning director-writers has given me a strong experience base to draw from as I undertake the directing of "Freeze Frame," from which I recently shot The Confession scene as a teaser and posted on youtube.com, staring Ben Browder.
