Unfortunately, those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it, and thus we are learning that over the seven years since the fall of Saddam Hussein, more Iraq vets are coming home with serious mental health problems that might ultimately lead them to take their own lives.
We know the subject might be contravertial. We know it is not a "commercial" subject. Yet, it does resonate. A short five-minute piece was posted on Youtube (search on "Ben Browder, Confession Of An Iraq Vett" or watch it on our site). The response was and continues to be overwhelming. The comments to Ben's soliloquy come from not just his fans, but from a broad swath of Americans.
But the purpose of making the film is deeper than informing the nation about the sad state of military mental health programs. We are changing paradigms on how funds are raised to make a movie and what is done with the earnings from a film. None of what we are trying here has been done before. What we intend to do is form a single-purpose, not-for-profit, company for this film, and donate the gross producer profits to Veteran organizations. We hope to raise the production budget from the Million Pixel Pledge page accessible from our top menu. In dedicating a block of pixels to the memory of a fallen soldier, you are also raising money for our living vets and teaching the public about their situation. We are doing a budget now. All donations will be held in escrow until the budget is released. Donors will be given the chance to dedicate their gift to a soldier who fell in the line of duty in any American conflict, from the Civil War to today's wars. If you don't know of a soldier, tell us of a war and we'll add a dedication. Anyone who makes a donation can download a signed, numbered, pdf of the script. Once the budget of the film is met by the donations, the dedications will be added to a Wall Of Honor and be compiled into the "one sheet" (advertising sheet) for the film. This movie poster will also be made available to everyone who helped raise the budget for the film, with gross producer profits going to veteran organizations. Once the budget is raised, we would seek a major film studio for distribution. The film will star Ben Browder of Stargate and Farscape fame, and other very important feature film stars.
We were inspired to make this grass roots effort for funding the film, by the Obama for president campaign. If President Obama’s Herculian effort proved anything, it was that the will of the people can not be ignored. With more vets killing themselves from Iraq and Afghanistan then are being killed in combat, only the will of the people to get this story told, can trump Hollywood’s will to chase the buck.

Hi Mr. McCord,
I an a fan of Ben Browders from Farsacpe & Stargate SG1 and had the pleasure of meeting him in Chicago last August at a convention. This story needs to be told for all the soldiers of all the wars. I like Ben's idea that this is not pro war or anti war, its about how war can destroy people and their families and we as a people need to pay attention. I think fans of Ben's would be interested in contributing money to this project, I know I would. I am not rich, I live pay to pay check, but this film needs to be made and for all the fans out there who have any amount they can send in could get this made. It's worth a try.
